Sacramento Habitat for Humanity

Sacramento Habitat for Humanity is building single family homes in Sacramento County. These homes will be built by volunteers supervised by experienced Construction Site Supervisors who have at minimum 20 to 25 years of construction experience.  They work with and train beginners as well as skilled construction volunteers.

  • Safety first with our affiliate thus we limit the number of volunteers that work on a site.  Volunteers sign a waiver of liability.

  • No one under 16-years-old can work on a construction site or in the ReStore. If you are 16-17 years old a parent or guardian (not a cousin, uncle or a friend or family member) MUST work along side their own child on a construction site.  Youth 16 & 17 years old also are not allowed to climb to roofs or operate power tools.  For the ReStore the parent must come in and sign a waiver and get approval from the Director of the ReStore for the minor to work without parent supervising them.

SHfH has all types of jobs available for volunteers who are flexible, adaptable and willing to serve in whatever capacity needed.  These include clean up of construction sites, cutting  trees and shrubbery on vacant lots, concrete, framing, roofing, finish work, painting and many other jobs.

  • To sign up to volunteer - scroll down the dates available to see if we have any opportunties available that works for you. If not, it means that - we do not have a volunteer opportunity available.  Please keep checking because things change from week to week.  Opportunities for individual volunteers will be posted on this website when they become available.

Sacramento Habitat (SHfH) also has a ReStore - THAT USES VOLUNTEERS - 50,000 square feet of building materials, home improvement items all donated from companies around the Greater Sacramento area.  Volunteers are needed to work in a warehouse setting, loading, unloading, customer service, stocking, inventory, product pricing or other miscellaneous tasks.

  • The ReStore sells items at 30 to 60% off the retail price and is open to the general public.  They also accept donations of new or "gently used" items.  The money raised from ReStore sales help offset the affiliate's operating costs as well as provide funding to the "Fund for Humanity."  The Fund for Humanity allows Sacramento Habitat to continue building homes for low income families.   OPEN TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY - 10 AM UNTIL 5 PM
